The State of Qatar has advanced 10 places globally in the 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index, issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF), reflecting the country's growing competitiveness in the travel and tourism sector and strengthening its position at both the regional and global levels.

In a post on its official account on the social media platform X, the National Planning Council (NPC) stated that Qatar recorded the largest global improvement in price competitiveness, advancing 48 places. The NPC added that Qatar also ranked first regionally in safety and security, ground and port transport infrastructure, and the socioeconomic impact of travel and tourism.

Qatar ranked among the top three countries regionally in openness to travel and tourism, air transport infrastructure, the business environment, human resources and the labor market, and non-leisure resources.

The NPC noted that this progress reflects the strength of the foundations underpinning Qatar's competitiveness in the tourism sector, particularly its high standards of safety and security, advanced infrastructure, openness and price competitiveness, a supportive business environment, and a skilled workforce.
